Ferris Wheel Dining

If you’re looking for something a little more different and fun, then dinner on a ferris wheel could be the one for you! Begin the evening at The Deck restaurant with sparkling wine and Amuse Bouche before hopping onto your private carriage where you will enjoy a 3 course meal aboard the ferris wheel at Luna Park and watch as the sun sets over gorgeous Sydney Harbour. Moonlight Cinema

Outdoor cinemas are the epitome of an Aussie summer date! If you’re not into anything fancy and just want something relaxed and casual, pick a movie and enjoy the open summer sky cuddled up with your loved one. Located at Belvedere Amphitheatre, Centennial Park, the Moonlight Cinema has advanced screenings, summer blockbusters and cult classics for everyone to enjoy. But it isn’t the cinema without snacks! The Moonlight Food Truck will be serving up a range of different snacks and hot food so you don’t go hungry.

Cupid’s Undie Run

While this one may not be the romantic Valentine’s Day date you were looking for, it’s for a good cause and will be lots of fun if you dare to bare! Cupid’s Undie Run is a 1.5km run to raise money for the Children’s Tumour Foundation of Australia and yep you guessed it, you run in your undies! Now of course not everyone is willing to run in nothing but their undies so you are encouraged to dress up in anything you find comfortable but still stand out in the crowd. Think tutus, superhero costumes and fairy wings. So grab your partner or a bunch of your single friends and dress up… or down!

January marks the peak of Australian summer, making Sydney the ultimate holiday destination to enjoy those long nights and celebrate summer with friends and family. Looking for some extra fun things to get involved in then we’ve got the information you need. Keep reading to find out more!

Sydney Festival 

Every January, Sydney Festival transforms Sydney with a bold cultural celebration based on big ideas and cutting-edge art and performance. With a program renowned for its diversity, featuring contemporary ballet to inspiring art installations, international theatre hits, primal circus, immersive virtual reality, modern Indigenous art and theatre, punk protest music and more. With a broad range of free events and accessible pricing policies for the ticketed shows means that Sydney Festival is open to all. Join the celebrations for free music events Symphony Under The Stars in Parramatta Park and Opera in the Domain, or head for Circus City in Prince Alfred Square, Parramatta, for free performances by Legs On The Wall and Sydney Trapeze School. This years festival stretches from January 6th – 28th.

Sydney International Tennis 

The Apia International Sydney 2017 promises to be one of the best tennis experiences in the nation. One of the oldest tournaments in the world, this famous event is held at Sydney Olympic Park Tennis centre from January 7th to the 14th. In 2017 there will be a total of 10 sessions – six day sessions and four night sessions. Both day and night session tickets include access to all outside courts and Ken Rosewall Arena. World class tennis is not all that will be on offer though, with plenty of food, drink and entertainment to keep the centre buzzing both on and off court. There will be player appearances, live music and DJ performances, merchandise, food and beverage options from some Sydney’s most iconic food spots onsite!

Australia Day 

Australia Day, the date of 26 January is part of history for all Australians. It marks the survival of our Indigenous people, our convict heritage, and the enriching of contemporary Australian culture by the millions of people who have since called this country home. Many celebrations take place on this day.  There are plenty of opportunities to immerse yourself in authentic Aboriginal cultural experiences from tours and attractions to performances and events.

Whether you’re a local or a tourist we recommend beating the city crowds and coming to spend your day here in Manly and around the Northern Beaches. The Australia Day Ceremony will be held at the Forecourt of the Northern Beaches Council Chambers from 2pm to 4pm which will include the Citizenship Ceremony and Presentation of the Northern Beaches Citizen of the Year Awards. Q Station will be hosting a Fun Day offering delicious sausage sizzles, jumping castles for the kiddies along with other beach activities and tours! There will also be great prizes to be won!

Venture a little out from the Manly and enjoy the various BBQ breakfasts on offer at Newport Beach (7:30am – 11:30am), Dee Why Beach (7am – 12pm) and North Narrabeen Lake Side Park (8am – 12pm). The Dee Why Big Breakfast is the biggest event of the Beaches hosting tens of thousands of people every year, involving a hot breakfast, car and bike show, thong throwing competition along with rides, live music, fireworks and of course the flag raising. The Warringah Aquatic Centre located in Frenchs Forest will also be hosting a Pool Party from 9am to 12pm.
